This Waystation Workshop focuses on the development, refinement, and implementation of protocols for the restitution of international tangible cultural heritage. Centered on the practical work of creating institutional policies/best practices that support the return of cultural materials across national borders, the workshop features speakers with direct experience contributing to finalized and formally adopted protocols as well as speakers who are actively working toward them.

This event will bring together members of Indigenous communities from California and beyond to share powerful, firsthand stories about the return of objects and ancestors from museum collections.
